I WISH YOU ENOUGH

As i sat down on a chair in an airport, I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moment together at the airport as the daughter’s departure had been announced. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said;
“I love you and I wish you enough”. The daughter replied “mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all that I ever needed. I wish you enough too mom”.
They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I sat. Standing there, I could see she wanted and needed to cry.
I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she welcomed me in by asking, “Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?”, “Yes I have”, I replied. ‘Forgive me for asking but why is this a forever goodbye?’.
“I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is the next trip back will be for my funeral”, she said.
When you were saying goodbye, I heard you say ‘I WISH YOU ENOUGH’, may I ask what that means?
She began to smile.
“That’s a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone”, (she paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail and she smiled even more).
“when we said ‘I wish you enough’, we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them”.
Then turning towards me, she shared the following, reciting it from memory;
‘I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final goodbye”. She then began to cry and walked away.

3,16 Chronology

Matthew 3:16 And having been baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon Him.

This was where the whole mission got real. Receiving power for the purpose of His coming. Training time was over. He’s graduated and about to start some real business. Call it an induction if you wish. Then of course He needed a team and He choose Him one.

Mark 3:16 And He appointed the twelve: and to Simon He gave the name Peter

Twelve men of the likes of timid fishermen and tax collectors. Simple men of whom the world had no interest in (except maybe the tax collector). Twelve men enrolled in this school of His and in 3 years and 6 months they would be restoring sights and healing the blind (can’t fathom why med school has to be 6 years, at least).
Let’s go back in time a lil’ bit

Luke 3:16 John answered and said to all, I 1baptize you in water, but He who is stronger than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He Himself will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire,

Of course His arrival was much anticipated. Dating from the time of the prophets, prophecies a thousand years old, older ones and the more recent, to minutes before His baptism, “the induction”. And the mission?

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that every one who believes into Him would not perish, but would have eternal life.

As simple as A, B, C. Cool huh! “Believe”, the golden word, is all it takes to be a big shot, to have life everlasting, to be made whole, to have access to the power that created all from nothing. Doubt that?

Acts 3:16 And upon faith in His name, His name has made this man strong, whom you behold and know; and the faith which is through Him has given him this wholeness of health before you all.

Could this get any better? What a free gift. What a priviledge. Wait a minute; what if one decides to reject this offer (is that even possible?) What happens then?

Romans 3:16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:

Oops! A word, they say, is enough for the wise. So what happens to us exactly when we accept this cool offer?

1 Cor 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

OMG! Is this true or is this true? One of the divinity of trinity comes to live in you. Yet, its impossible to seperate into different entities the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; so actually, God in completeness lives in us.
Boy!!! Am I dancing already??

2 Cor 3:16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

It gets better, we would see things even more clearly. A lot more must have happened at Eden than Moses documented.

Gal 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

That’s right. Another assurance of the promises of God. I can’t stop loving You, You are my everything, You bring melody to my soul. I can’t get enough of You…hold on dear, be mindful of this

Phil 3:16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

That’s right.

Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Uh huh! Be mindful of these, that we may remain in Him, and Him in us; lest we fall out of the grace of this gift

2Thes 3:16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.

yes; after we have minded what we should mind in all sincerity and godliness the peace of God floods our very souls.
Hey! Before you start arguing, read this..

1Tim 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

All your doubts, I believe, have been cleared. What a beautiful array of witnesses to this testament. Irrefutable proof indeed.
Did I hear you say what is the credibility of the source of my information?

2Tim3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Thats right. Still doubt? Take heed to yourself. Things didn’t work out soo well for the last set of people that toke that path.

Heb 3:16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

You don’t wanta go down that lane, Trust me. Nevertheless, if you insist, you have a right to know your fate.

Jam 3:16 For where envying and strife is , there is confusion and every evil work.

Like Martin Luther said as he was prepared to be burned at the stake “My conscience is my guide, the Scripture is my authority…”

1Pt 3:16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

Its my sincere prayer that the Lord open the eye of your understanding. Praying for you is the only thing I can really do having realised that many have spoken to you about such ..

2Pt 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Alas! Maybe I can do a lil’ more than pray..

1Jn 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God , because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

And for those of you who believe. You should strive to remain in Him. Pursue your salvation in all fear and trembling.
It doesn’t end at acceptance of the gift. We should prove ourselves worthy of His calling. Trust me on this one, it would be better if you remained ignorant of this Gift, because …

Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

why bother???

I heave a sigh as I feel the pressure. The pressure to cave-in. To conform. To blend. To fit into the miniature one sided box the world has carved for you, with no considerations whatsoever as to who you are, what your size actually is and how many sides you’ve got. They create walls around you and tell you “this right here is the field of play”.
Hmmmm…another sigh escapes before I have the chance to suppress it. Here am I, sitting in a dark room hoping Nepa restores power, listening to the silence of the dark world around me, and then I hear the scream. A damsel in distress? I listened keenly hoping to identify the direction of the scream, poised to be the hero, all my muscles are tense, my knucles ache as I tightly grab the handle of the plastic seat. Again I heard the scream, only to realise ot came from within. My soul seemed to be reaching out to me. I listened, intently, and then I heard “why bother?”
Why bother about what? Why bother to conform. Why fit into the box they’ve carved up for you. Why fulfill their dreams to see all games are played within the tight confines of their “walls”. You were made for soo much more. You are talented. You are a pacemaker. You were designed to break fallow grounds. Thinking outside the box comes naturally to you as does suckling to an infant.
Reach out. Break free. Fulfill the very purpose of your being. Demolish their walls and make your playing ground round as a ball, world without limits. This is who you are. This is what you were designed to do. For we have been called to show forth the light within us. To give meaning to the hopelessness all around us. To add taste to the bitterness of the world. To give sight to the blind. To tell the lame you can walk and set the captives free. To raise the dead and let them walk in the marvelous light of gospel, spreading abroad the very frangrance of Christ.
Oh Yes, I cam do all things through Christ that strenghtens me.
