PAPA’S RECIPE FOR SUCCESS – 3

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY

When speaking to freshers at his university on the need to study and what is required for success, sleepless nights and all. He was asked by a student what he does to stay awake. To this he replied “I take responsibility”.

Taking responsibility is adopting the mindset that

  1. No one but you is responsible for your success.
  2. You are responsible for your failures.

Stop the blame game.  I didn’t study the course of my choice because…, …because my father…, … Because my uncles are…

Newsflash; you are not the first in that situation and some people, however few they may be found a way out. So can you.

We have misused the quote “by the grace of God”  people make plans saying “I will do… by God’s grace” but they don’t make serious efforts to make sure the plan works. They believe in their subconscious and wish to pass the notion over to the next person that if the plan does not work,  then it must be a result of the grace of God in short supply. God said in his word,  my grace is sufficient for you and my strength is made perfect in your weakness. Also, the Bible says that the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.

So, if you base your plans on God’s grace and it doesn’t succeed, it’s not due to a grace deficit, rather the blame is on you. How can I be sure? After all I have no idea about all the effort you put into it. Well, God is faithful and if he says his grace is sufficient, then, the rest we can figure out.

His grace is always provided in more quantity than we ever need.

If it doesn’t succeed, it’s all you. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

ENOUGH of the excuses.

Be blessed.

Be Your Own Man

It’s unpopular to have an opinion different from that of the general populace.

When you voice an opinion carved out of the hardcore truth,  one that confronts the notion of a people in denial, they turn on you. No one smiles at you when you wash their open wounds with methylated spirit.

To succeed,  make up your mind to stand ‘alone’. Even God said “I sought for a man. Decide to do the right thing To the right time.

Search for yourself, the “truth” about matters that pertain to life and stick to it. Of course all truth about matters in life is found reliably in the Bible. Study to show yourself approved. When you find this truth, be unapologetic about it. That is not to say you’re to rub it in people’s faces. Just have the truth and be confident about it. When the time is right, voice that opinion of truth in love, to teach, not to prove the ignorance of others.

Stay tuned for more.

PAPA’S RECIPE FOR SUCCESS – 1

Be Misunderstood
Everybody is “okay” with you as long as you maintain status quo with them.

They relate with you because you understand their plight. Well, you wear same shoes, figuratively, so why wouldn’t you understand?

The moment you “break rank”, the moment you decide to move to a higher ground, they dislike you. Why? Well, they have strived for so long to move to that higher ground and have nothing but scars to show for it. They take succor when they look around and see people at same level with them.

When you break free, wen you move on, you remind them of their failures. No one wants to be reminded of the times they’ve failed. So they dislike you, because the mere sight of you makes a statement, “I tried and I failed”.
So until you’re ready to be disliked, misunderstood and alone, you are not ready for success yet.

Next thing that happens is they begin to avoid you. This is not because you’re no longer fun to be with, rather because your being seen and heard makes them uncomfortable with themselves and serve as a reminder of their short comings.

Take Home

Make up your mind to be alone, misunderstood and disliked by those closest to you now. It is then you are stiring your boat for success.

BE BLESSED

Land line or Mobile phone?

As a young child I remember the phone booth, where people queue up to call and reach out to their loved ones and business associates.
The average citizen could not afford a telephone in his home and the telephone booth was one of the few means of reaching out to people some distance away.
At such booths, there’s an attendant who keeps things in order and serve the public.
Such is not the case anymore. No one would queue up to make a phone call anymore, thanks to the mobile phone.

Reaching out to God was indeed like the telephone booth.
People would have to go to the temple to meet the priest, who in turn would atone for there sins before God in the Holy of holies.
Like the land line before the mobile phone, It seemed good at the time until we got a better offer. Jesus literally gave each person in humanity a mobile telephone.

After his death on the cross, the veil in the temple, that very veil that separates the Holy of holies from the people and make it sacred, for priests only.
That same veil was as torn from top to bottom, granting free access to God, through Jesus alone, for all who believe.

With this mobile phone (salvation) we may make calls to God (prayer) as much as we want, as often as we please because it’s pre-paid. Yes Jesus already paid for it with his life. What privilege!

This seems to have always been the plan of God. To reach out and be known by his people on a per person basis. Consider the following scriptures from the book of Exodus.

19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

19:17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

20:19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

Thus for fear of their lives, they appointed a middle man between they and God and rejected their priesthood.

Jesus came to restore the priesthood to mankind,
1Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;
He came to restore relationships and bid us to tell all people about his mobile phones (salvation).

Unfortunately, we may decide to appoint a mediator in our pastor or priest or church doctrine, by idolising or holding on to doctrine in contrast to the scriptures, or we may go to God through Christ.

We may also decide not to use our mobile phones, by rejecting the salvation of God.
We may decide not to keep the mobile phone charged, for making and receiving calls (prayers and quiet time).

The choice indeed is ours but the mobile phone (salvation) is always within reach and accessible. In fact it has been given to us. Let us make full use of this opportunity.
For how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation.

About John Zachariah (aka John the Baptist )
Luke 1:15b
and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even before his birth.
Luke 1:41b
Elizabeth’s child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Luke 1:80a
John grew up and became strong in spirit.
The above scriptures blows my mind

David said in Sin did my mother conceive me.
But not for John the Baptist
He was filled with the Spirit from before conception.
Conducted Holy Ghost ministration on his mother while in the womb.
And to confirm the infilling, there was no other filling after birth. He rather grew strong in the Spirit.

Don’t know about you, but I think I’ll start praying for Holy Ghost infilling for my Children, just like John. For even before Zachariah went in to his wife, the angel said he will be filled before his birth.
